Finally America’s National Kidney Foundation have come out against the fluoridation of water in America. People with chronic kidney disease, which incidentally could be as much as 14% of the population, are affected significantly by water companies putting fluoride in the water. Sufferers tend to develop a form of arthritic bone disease called skeletal fluoridosis, which can lead to fractures and dental decay, the very thing it is meant to be helping. So whilst they are encouraged to drink more water, ironically this undermines their whole health due to the contamination from fluoride.
We are affected by fluoride far more than we realise, many toothpastes, and other dental products contain it, and just as an aside any company dealing with fluoride as a waste product have to deal with it as a dangerous chemical. What on earth is it being put into our water supply for?
I am very keen on us having pure water for our bodies, and am really upset about the UK Governments considering the fluoridation of its water supplies, to the point where I have invested in the best water filtration system I could buy. Fluoride in the water supply, even at the supposedly ‘safe’ levels, can also affect the thyroid gland America’s National Research Council says, people who are iodine deficient are especially vulnerable, it says in its first ever report into the safety of fluoridated water.
“A low level of thyroid hormone can increase the risk of cardiac disease, high cholesterol, depression, and, in pregnant women, decreased intelligence of offspring,” says the NRC’s Kathleen Thiessen, co-author of the report.
Robert Carton, an environmental scientist who worked for 30 years for the US government, says: “Fluoride has detrimental effects on the thyroid gland of healthy males at 3.5 mg a day. With iodine deficiency, the effect levels drop to 0.7 milligrams a day for the average male.”
Why would a Government with this level of information available still be pushing for this to happen?
