Vaccinations

March 27, 2009

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read the schedule for childhood vaccinations in the dr’s. 13, and these were all before 13 months of age? What on earth is all this about? This is truly not something that people need to be doing to their children, and it is no wonder that childhood illnesses are increasing year on year, this level of toxicity is making our children ill, and impacting on their long term health.

Monsanto

March 23, 2009

I am not going to rant on about how evil Monsanto is, but what they are doing to control the worlds food supplies by creating terminator seeds is horrifying. What I am going to say is that it is becoming more and more important to start to grow your own, and keep your own seeds from the foods that you are growing. Monsanto is doing it’s best to prevent farmers from doing this, and it will only be a matter of time before they own every seed company. Stopping us all, no just agribusinesses from growing ordinary foods, they are hell bent on controlling our food, and in the US they have legislation that even supports them. But there GM is going to directly affect all of our health, and it is time to start to control your own food, before it becomes too late. I am sick of hearing about Monsanto, and the awful things they are doing, but we can all in our small way start to disrupt them bit by bit.

Grow your own, keep your own seeds, and don’t buy from the companies they own, the only way to fight big business, is by hitting their profits.

Supplements to aid a broken foot!

March 18, 2009

D here, and yes I suddenly found time to write again, mainly because I broke my foot! This of course put me into overdrive to find out what would help it to heal far quicker and support the healing. Well initially I used Arnica to help with the tissue bruising, Symphytum, and Comfrey tea, to help with the bone reknitting themselves together, with Serrazymes, to aid the healing, and MSM again for the bones. No anti-inflammatories which they normally tell you to take, the inflammation is there for a reason, and by dispersing it into the body you are creating further problems not just for the foot, but also for the rest of your body to deal with.

I did cold wraps on the foot when I could stand it, wrapping them in a sheet dunked in cold water, not ice as you are often told, then wrapped it up, with a thick towel. The bruising is just starting to come out, and I did it last week, and the swelling is already going down, the foot is no where near the size it was. I have kept the foot elevated, 90% of the time, and kept the weight off it. No walking the dog for the moment!

The other thing I do, and have kept doing, is having green juices each day, cucumber, celery, apple, kale, spinach, with our own dried greens which include plaintain, barley grass, dandelion leaves, nettle, raspberry leaves, and blackberry leaves. Protein and nutrient rich juice for building bones, with a salad of sprouted beans, and alfalfa, I eat a high raw diet, so nothing should really get in the way of healing. The nurse told me that those who smoke and drink can take double the time to heal, she didn’t quite believe that I didn’t do either, I tell you doing this on Friday the 13th almost had me reconsidering!

1 nights bushcraft lesson.

March 18, 2009

Its R’s turn again, and I’ll be writing more as the new spring dawns. D’s going to take a back seat for a while, this is due in main to work load, and the fact I don’t do enough. So I’ll be taking over the reins for a while, filling you in on the day to day out doors bush crafting and survival techniques that I do.

Quite recently I took a local lad I know out for one nights bushcraft lesson, he loved it and is now hooked. I simply ran him through basic survival techniques, showing him ways of fire starting, fire management, building a shelter and a comfy bed. I think he was surprised as to how easy it all is with a little knowledge and the right tools.

I like to show the people I’m teaching the basic tools that make life easier, a quality axe is a handy tool for shelter building, I use a Wetterlings hunters axe that I’ve personally modified to fit my needs, a Swedish fire steel, a Falkenkniven F1 army knife, and a small billy can is all that was needed to make life comfortable.  I think the highlight to his night was the lay fire, which is a long but narrow log fire,  to give as much heat as possible while you sleep, a reflector made from logs and earth does exactly what it says, it reflects the heat straight back at you.

The weather was perfect, a beautiful still night with a nice 7C temp, all cooking was done using nature as our cook pot, or lack of cook pot in this case. Sticks were used to cook the meat on that we had taken with us. Hey I can’t go scaring people on their first trip out by getting them to butcher an animal now can I, that comes with time. Steak and eggs for breakfast went down a treat with a fresh brew of primrose tea. The nettles and dandelion were just coming through and the fresh shoots were withered and dried by the fire to make a decent brew as well, but as it was only one nights foray out only enough was gathered for one decent brew. Still there is always next time.
