Gerson therapy

January 31, 2009

Currently reading about natural cancer cures, those cures that the medical establishment don’t want anyone to know about, due to them not making any money out of it! Terrible really what is happening, all those people fund raising to give money to who? Pharmaceutical companies to find a cure apparently, but I wonder if they ever link the fact that those companies are some of the most profitable companies in the world. So people fund raise to help them to research to find a cure, when they already make a lot of money, and then they sell those medications back to us, that we have paid for them to research into. Not sure who thinks that this is a good deal, and they are always telling the media that a cure is around the corner!

I already know there are lifestyle choices out there that can help to reduce the likelihood of cancer establishing itself in the body. I believe that many people know that the foods, and chemicals they are ingesting are causing them the problems, but they just don’t want to face up to the reality. So they end up believing the hype that the drugs work, and are the only option, and the pharmaceutical companies are doing a great job of making out they are the only option, and telling people the rest is quackery.

Which is a massive shame, people should have knowledge of the therapies out there that are working, and have worked for many years. Gerson Therapy is one of them, Max Gersons book has rocked my world, yet again, from Cancer Hearings that happened in 1946, it had such a vision of the future. A Cancer Therapy: Results of Fifty Cases and the Cure of Advanced Cancer A key paragraph in it on how damaging civilisation has become is amazing.
“The damage that modern civilisation brings into our lives begins with the soil, where artificial fertilisation leads to the displacement of mineral contents and changes in the flora of microbes combined with the exodus of the earthworms. Consequently, frequent erosion of arable land takes place. These changes bring about, at the beginning, an irritation of plants; later they cause their degeneration. Spraying poisonous substances increases the poisons in the soil, and these poisons are transferred to plants and fruits.
We must conclude from these and many other observations that the soil and all that grows in it is not something distant from us but must be regarded as our external metabolism, which produces basic substances for our internal metabolism. Therefore, the soil must be cared for properly and must not be depleted or poisoned; otherwise, these changes will result in serious degenerative diseases, rapidly increasing in animals and human beings”.

Sound familiar? I wonder what we are doing to ourselves, the solutions are out there for cancer, and many degenerative diseases, which I have learnt are diseases which are predominantly nutritional deficiencies, and toxins from the environment. When will people stop taking the drugs and actually see that nature heals and has always known how to heal, Gerson shows the way in his book, his research was originally aimed at tuberculosis, but he then went on to develop it for cancer cases. He had amazing results, more people not less need to know about this.

Scientific proof that cows like to be called Daisy!

January 28, 2009

Yes it’s bizarre what you end up listening to on the way to work, but this morning I heard that new research had showed that cows which were named, basically produced more milk. It was funny to listen to, because a producer was saying that it was complete bunkum, then went on to say that his cows had a high milk yield. The scientist asked him whether he named his herd, and he said he did! So proving the scientist to be right.

The key thing though was that it mattered the relationship the animal had with the farm hands, by naming the animals they were more likely to have a better relationship, and unlikely to harm them.

The producer went on to say how his cows quite liked to listen to Radio 1 in the morning, John Humphries asked if they listen to Radio 4, no they quite like the mixture of house and dance music apparently!

Funky cows or what!

Off the grid:sustainable living

January 24, 2009

Les Stroud show’s us how it’s done in the Canadian wilderness, I would of been scared of the bears, never mind the winter weather of -25! No wonder they didn’t want to stay in the tent.

The great escape, I have a dream, and curing diabetes!

January 23, 2009

I had been planning my dream which I had partly named The great escape, but tonight Racie surpassed herself, and did a runner, showing me that she is really the true escape artist here, not us! The thing with lurchers is when they do a runner, they really do! Within seconds she was out of sight, not really set up for running on concrete myself in bare feet, I couldn’t keep up, not even her ears could be seen from the flat door, and I was just about to settle down to a nice cup of maca and bee pollen.

Coming back to our escape idea of a sustainable smallholding, running businesses that we can do anywhere, some of the hard work seems to be coming to fruition. R is receiving commissions for Mokume Gane pieces, and I am in the process of setting up an online business. We are so inspired at the moment to achieve our dream, we are constantly imagining what we will be doing, how we will be doing it, and it seems to be starting to make it happen.

Tonight I did though have some time off from making it happen, and watched a couple of DVD’s that I had ordered. Raw for 30 days which shows 6 people curing themselves of Types 1 and 2 diabetes, yes curing themselves. This is something the medical profession will tell you isn’t possible, but this DVD chronicles Dr Gabrial Cousins work at the Tree Of Life in Arizona. He does this by putting them on a completely raw natural diet, high in carbohydrates, and fibre, low in fats, and protein. With so many children growing up with Diabetes, it has to make sense to those with children to listen to the information that is simple to understand from this DVD. See There Is a Cure for Diabetes: The Tree of Life 21-day+ Program, not the DVD but this is the book which shows you how to go about curing yourself!

Favourite new book currently is Evie’s Kitchen: Raising an Ecstatic Childis the first book I have seen which is on raising your child as a raw vegan, it is possible, and this book shows you how. The book is raising the awareness of raw vegan children and how much healthier they really can be, and you can be sure that they won’t be getting diabetes or some other modern western disease that the medical profession tell you is incurable!

The other DVD was Food matters, which has Phillip Day, and David Wolfe amongst others talking about natural food and it’s impact on your health, and it is good, in fact I will be getting a copy for every client I have. Reminds you how important pure natural food is, and how it has become bastardised by the agribusinesses and manufacturers. I have friends who are so indoctrinated that they think flax seeds are going to make them ill so won’t take them, yet will imbibe on a handful of medications everyday, half of which are all to counteract the side effects that they are having. Breaks my heart, in effect they are choosing a life sentence.

Peecycled batteries, low blood sugar, and a right dogs dinner!

January 18, 2009

In my quest to inform the world about urine therapy, I found today that Shazzie the Managing Director of Detox your world, actually will be covering it in her new book on ecstatic beings. Love her work, so I can’t wait for this next installment to come out.

Anyway the other daft bit of information I want to impart, is the tech news has gone wild over urine driven batteries. Yes they did take the piss, and that is to be expected, but they can be powered by fluids and that includes urine. The website has a link to the full article.

Currently reading about Low Blood Sugar by Martin L Budd, which I didn’t realise could cause so many symptoms. Up to one in five people can suffer from hypoglycaemia, which is a lot, potentially with symptoms that are similar to stress at times. To top this off it affects the adrenal glands, which can put those who are already stressed and not getting a nutritionally balanced diet, in an even worse position, causing further anxiety. By not eating the right foods, which you don’t tend to do when you are stressed, it makes the whole blood sugar imbalance even worse. I can now understand why people start to overeat, because the body is trying to rebalance itself. With so many of us living and working in a way which is so stressful, people are probably suffering from this and not even realising it. We need to change our lifestyles to a more calming one, with less consuming, and more being, wouldn’t that be nice?

The dogs are both stalking me waiting for their dinner to cool down, now making your own pets dinners is far easier than you can imagine. It is also far healthier, they eat stacks of veggies, seeds, and some grains, and different meats each day. It has no additives or any other rubbish in it that some manufacturer thinks is a good idea, and it hasn’t been sat around for months on a shelf. The dogs both love dinner, last night was lentils, with beef, and parsnips, and the bowls are clean. Today on the menu is left over bacon, potatoes, veggies from the juicing we did earlier, this is a great way to use them up, so they don’t get wasted, with their favourite, pearl barley. They love pearl barley, it is cooked so that they get stacks of water with it as a gravy, with the obligatory fish oil, nearly the healthiest dogs in town. Now raw dogs would be that but neither will give it the time of day! I am hoping Pottenger’s Cats doesn’t come true!

Can we have your permission please and collisions with an old deer!

January 14, 2009

We have been looking at land to move to, and live on, but I am astounded at the permissions and regulation that is in place, which just seems to want to stop you from living a more natural lifestyle. No wonder people don’t bother, as I can see it is going to take us a long time to find what we want, as it will have to be with most of the bits already in place.

Did you know that if you buy a woodland, you can’t live in it yourself, you can’t even build a tree house! Land is all defined as specific in use, and getting that changed, well, we just don’t have the money to even consider doing that. So I can see us moving no where fast.

We are both getting itchy feet, the more natural our lifestyle becomes, the more we want to move 100% to it, but we just don’t have the finances to buy and set the place up in the first place. And this is the big ticket issue, or the show stopper as we would say at work! Finding enough land, with planning permission for a dwelling, or a property of sorts in place is expensive, well too expensive for our purses currently.

Over the weekend we looked at the possibility of converting an old barn which came with 2 acres, with no planning permission to do this though. Not really enough land to live sustainably on but it would be a start, although we wouldn’t have much to live on after buying it.

Then we saw a plot of 4 acres, next to a stream with woodland, a dream, classified as a small holding, but with no residential dwelling on it. We couldn’t afford it if it had a dwelling or any planning consent, but then that would cause us more problems in wondering where to live! We considered a yurt to live in, this winter I have to say has put me off somewhat, but you need planning permission to put one up! I think you need permission for absolutely everything you do on your land by the looks of things, I imagine you can get a certificate to allow you to breath and have a pulse legally on it!

Anyway I am going to wind my way through the planning permission and other bits that I need to read, to understand what we can and can’t do if we manage to afford to buy something! In the mean time we have our allotment, which has been too cold to visit, I can see how, after this winter, I could get very attached to no dig gardening.

The other day whilst out with the dogs, they all collided with a deer on the trail, literally the dogs ran straight at each other, and the deer ran in between the two of them. They all hit the deck, dogs and deer piled up on top of each other. It was very surreal I have to say, pretty quickly they all recovered, and as though giddy from drinking carried on chasing. I have them muzzled so no harm, although they were both limping on the way home and covered in grazes. Very funny I have to say although I did think I was going to have a rather large vets bill!

Freezing cold, knitted gloves, and a dog with big ears!

January 10, 2009

It’s true, everyone who see’s our new dog tell’s us that she has big ears, we tell them that she doesn’t know this, but thinks she’s just like every other dog on the estate! She does look quite funny mind you with them, but can hear for England.

Lurcher extra big ears!

Lurcher extra big ears!

She’s the one on the right in case you can’t tell! Anyway, unlike our other lurcher she didn’t need a coat, even though the temperature was so cold it had frozen the running water that went through the middle of the woods.

Frozen running water

Frozen running water

The woods were iced right to the middle, everything was covered in a thin layer, and all the water coming off the branches had crystalised.
Crystalised branches

Of course today it all looked beautiful, and truly amazing, we couldn’t believe how hard the ground had become, and how even in the middle of the woods everything had iced up.

We stopped to get some wood as usual, and have learnt that paper mache bricks are absolutely useless. They burn in no time at all, and just leave stacks of ash behind, we have been burning paper just as it is, so I wouldn’t bother going through all the trouble of making the bricks, for us it has been pointless.

We have been looking at farmland 40 acres of it in Wales, a dream come true if we could buy it, but it would leave us with no money left over to do anything to it. We would have to have money to live on, for a period of time we would need money to sustain ourselves, until it is all up and running. Also there is no property on it, so we would have to resolve that as well! That isn’t something we can do as it would cost us everything. So it leaves us wondering how we go about affording to buy it, or something like it, anyone have any ideas?

I am really glad that I spent lots of time last year knitting socks and gloves, although I have to admit the gloves almost drove me nuts. But today they really paid off, and the Thinsulate gloves were chucked in place of the knitted ones, which out performed them. I had become really fed up with how cold my hands have been just lately in my Thinsulate gloves, but thought my knitted ones wouldn’t be anywhere near as good, mainly because of the size difference with how thick they are. But my knitted gloves have proved to be brilliant, and they are funky too, knitting patterns come from Kareen at the Interknit cafe in Farnham, my favourite knitting place. Knit your own, get a wood burner and knit in front of it, fantastic, I can thoroughly recommend it!

Too cold, knitting socks, and bursting pipes!

January 8, 2009

It has to be said, the less I go out into the cold, the more I don’t want to, but this is then tending to make me feel it more when I do.

Being outside more has definitely hardened me up over the past year, but not enough for what is turning out to be a very cold winter. I did once go out running each morning through the seasons, but not this year! Not for a long time have I heard of peoples water pipes bursting, not sure what youa re meant to do in fact, which shows that I am probably of the generation that has become very nesh indeed!

Hot waters bottles, and extra blankets have been brought out of cupboards, and the bed is getting so heavy that I am beginning to remember what it was like being a child when duvets didn’t exist.

We are having to constantly keep the woodburner going, to prevent the workshop and the equipment from getting a layer of condensation on it. Which means having a pretty good stock of wood in the bin ready, more going out, but if we don’t everything will start to very quickly rust up.

I am really glad that I spent my time knitting socks this year, and gloves, everyone laughs at me knitting, but not only have I found it quite therapeutic,I am now benefiting from the mad multicoloured knitted socks, which are ever so toastie! Prefer knitting socks to gloves mindyou, as gloves really did almost send me over the edge from knitting heaven to knitting insanity. Who on earth can knit more than one pair I honestly don’t know!

Funny really how even though one pair of socks is starting to wear through, in the past getting a new pair would of just meant going shopping, now I am going to darn them and make them like new again. I want to look after them and make them last, as making them took so long. You really do start to become far more conscious of ’stuff’ and wanting it to last, and looking after it far more. Wouldn’t suit the fashion conscious this way of living, but you sure don’t need as much.

Socks are actually easier to make than you think they will be, and sock wool is readily available now, and makes your feet look funky! I am saving the bits left over to make another blanket, I remember my grandparents talking about saving their old string, I haven’t become that bad, but I think this way of living might have me living like that in the long run!

Finding the Powerful Forces of Nature in the Compost Pile

January 3, 2009

I have found it difficult just this last month to fill this blog, mainly due to not doing a whole lot outside, we are still walking the dogs, collecting wood for the woodburner, but a part from that our spare time is being spent reading. We have so much to learn to be able to live the life we want to live, and sometimes we just have to accept that is what we have to do.

One of the best articles I have read just lately is Finding the Powerful Forces of Nature in the Compost Pile on Natural News website. Obviously right up our street, and re-enforces everything we are doing, I can’t understand why more people in the current climate are not working on creating their own food.
